About Scott

Scott Abbott is an accomplished Canadian landscape painter celebrated for his evocative interpretations of natural vistas across Ontario and beyond. A graduate of University of Guelph Honours Fine Arts Program (1978) and the University of Western Ontario (B. ED., 1984), Scott works primarily in oils and acrylics, skillfully blending observation with creative insight.
Much of Scott’s inspiration is drawn from journeys through Northern Ontario, as well as Eastern and Western Canadian landscapes. Always seeking authentic connections with the places he paints - including his home in Guelph. His “pleine-air” paintings are influenced by the legacy of the Group of Seven and other renowned Canadian artists. Yet Scott’s distinct approach ensures each work remains true to the spirit and atmosphere of its setting.
While his studio practice allows for bold experimentation with technique and scale. Scott’s commitment to honesty in his subject matter remains constant. His paintings offer viewers a sense of place and a moment of reflective calm.
Scott’s art is showcased annually in the Guelph Studio Tour, inviting visitors to experience his latest explorations in Canadian Landscape Art.
