Scott Abbott is primarily a landscape painter who works both on location and on larger pieces in the studio. In 1978, he graduated from the University of Guelph with a Specialized Honours Bachelor of Fine Arts. He earned a Bachelor of Education in 1984 from the University of Western Ontario. He works mostly in oils and acrylics. Subject matter for his work comes from painting trips across Northern Ontario, many Eastern and Western Canadian sites, as well as in and around his hometown Guelph, Ontario.

The style of his outdoor work borrows much from The Group of Seven and other Canadian landscape painters, but his aim is to be true to the subject as on location painting will allow. His larger studio pieces, while subject to experimentation, usually reflect the same attitude towards the subject matter.

Scott’s work is featured annually in the Guelph Studio Tour.
